Dear parents, teachers and students,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Vietnam-Finland International School!

VFIS serves the Vietnamese and International communities in Ho Chi Minh City as part of Ton Duc Thang University. VFIS offers a unique curriculum approved by the Finnish National Agency of Education based on teaching methods that meet Finnish education standards. One of our core values is to recognize the significance of childhood and the uniqueness of each student to grow and fulfil his or her fullest potential. The VFIS community values are vitality, flexibility, inclusion, and sisu. Sisu is a Finnish word for resilience and persistence through hard times.

Our mission is to empower students to be caring and balanced members of our society, enabling them to lead rewarding personal and professional lives.  At VFIS the students will gain the necessary skills & competencies, character qualities and an international mindset to successfully navigate the challenges and opportunities of an ever-changing world. This mission and values are the core of who we are, and they drive all our strategic decisions.

VFIS strives for excellence in all aspects of learning and student performance, with a wide range of hands-on subjects like arts, music, crafts, physical education and even home economics. As well as nurturing our students’ talents, these subjects also promote both creativity and well-being. At VFIS, we encourage students to be inquisitive, creative, and collaborative and to solve problems actively.

VFIS is an international school that serves as a benchmark for academic excellence and a place where a world-class curriculum, excellent teaching, innovation, and cultural traditions are harmoniously integrated. I appreciate the wonderful work of our previous principals: Ms. Seija, Ms. Sanna, and Mr. Tuomo. We remain committed to our values of vitality, flexibility, inclusion and sisu.

With best regards,

Ms. Miekk-Oja Suvi Kristiina | Acting Head of School
