Music Teacher

General Information

  • Position: Music Teacher

Description

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Music Education or a related field.
  • Teaching credentials may be required.

Experience:

  • 3 years minimum of experience in teaching music (Grades 1 – 12).
  • Experience in using musical instruments.
  • Acquiring knowledge and skills in various musical concepts, including: Music theory (rhythm, melody, harmony); Instrumental instruction (piano, guitar, voice, etc.); Vocal music (singing, choral work); Music history and appreciation; Music technology and composition.
  • Teaching in an international environment is preferred.
  • Proving working in Southeast Asia environments is preferred.
  • Experience with (or motivation to learn) the Finnish curriculum is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement creative and engaging classroom activities, such as Music games; Group performances; Musical theater productions; Instrumental ensembles;
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to students.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and academic progress.
  • Support students' practice in school's special events.
  • Nurturing students' talents for music competitions.
  • Adapt lessons to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of all students.
  • Participate in school events and activities as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to innovate, create and deliver the curriculum to meet the expectations as communicated in our school curriculum;
  • Administrative duties (students comments, assessment development, grading, etc.)

Special Education Teacher

Description

Qualifications:
▪ Certification in Special Educational Needs
▪ Bachelor's degree in Education that includes a pedagogical module or training.
▪ (Master’s degree in Education preferred)

Experience:
▪ A minimum of three years of teaching experience
▪ Experience in international education settings
▪ Demonstrated expertise in special educational needs (SEN) education
▪ Proven experience working with students with special educational needs

Responsibilities:

1. Planning, Teaching & Support:
▪ Collaborate with homeroom teachers, subject teachers, and teaching assistants to support students' learning
▪ Support students individually, in groups, or in the classroom
▪ Check and evaluate students' classroom learning processes and give feedback to parents, teachers, and the students themselves.
▪ Plan and prepare instructional support and materials before class.
▪ Make and maintain personal study plans, if needed, and share this as a working document with other teachers, support staff, and parents.
▪ Create, coordinate, and maintain the various documents that are needed to record student needs, progress, and outcomes; individual support plans, action plans, conditional agreements, pedagogical discussions, observations, meeting minutes, etc…

2. Special responsibilities:
▪ Provide additional support for students with special needs
▪ Provide screening tests and assessments for students to understand their learning needs
▪ Participate in the school’s admissions process
▪ Special support is available for students in the following special cases: + Learning, emotional, behavioral, or communication difficulties. + Autism, dyspraxia, dyslexia, and attention deficit disorder (ADHD). + Sensory impairment (eg, visual impairment). + Sensory processing disorder. + Psychological problems.
+ Physical disability
+ Work in close collaboration with the school counselor and student welfare team
▪ Provide guidance and learning tips to teachers to further support them in the classroom; activity set-up, tools for the classroom, differentiated instruction, etc…

3. Leading & Inspiring:
▪ Encourage students' learning spirit and enjoyment of learning.
▪ Encourage students' personal development by providing systematic and psychological guidance.
▪ Liaise with parents, professionals, and external care providers (psychologists, doctors, therapists, other SEN support providers, and shadow teachers, for example).
▪ Supervise and ensure student safety.

4. Share & Collaborate:
▪ Collaborate with the SEN coordinator and SEN department
▪ Collaborate with professionals, and external care providers to provide timely support to students.
▪ Support and actively participate in events and programs organized by the school.
▪ Share the workload with other teachers or substitutes if needed.

5. Personal Development and Skills Enhancement:
▪ Improve educational knowledge, research and develop new methods through participation in professional organizations and annual training courses.
▪ Participate in professional training courses organized by VFIS.

6. Other Duties:
▪ Attend school staff meetings
▪ Be responsible for extracurricular activities as assigned by the principal (maximum 2 hours/week).
▪ Cover other teacher classes if needed (maximum 2 hours/week).
▪ Comply with the rules and regulations set out by VFIS.
▪ Be responsible for other tasks assigned by school leaders.

Math Teacher

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • 3 years minimum of experience in teaching math in a bilingual program from lower secondary to upper secondary, and being able to deliver Math concepts in English
  • Acquiring knowledge and skills in various math courses, including IB Math: Math AA (Analysis and Approaches), Math AI (Applications and Interpretation), such as Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus.
  • Teaching in an international environment is preferred
  • Proving working in Southeast Asia environments is preferred
  • Experience with (or motivation to learn) the Finnish curriculum is preferred
  • Experience with a team lead role is a plus

Responsibilities:

  • Teach a variety of math courses, including IB Math, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus and Bilingual programme.
  • Develop and implement innovative teaching methods, including the use of technology, real-world applications, and problem-solving activities.  Assess student learning through a variety of methods, including quizzes, tests, projects, and class participation.
  • Adapt lessons to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of all students.  Prepare students for standardized tests.
  • Participate in school events and activities as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to innovate, create and deliver the curriculum to meet the expectations as communicated in our school curriculum;
  • Administrative duties (students comments, assessment development, grading, etc.)
