Mr. Ville Tavio, Minister of Foreign Trade and Development, Ministry of Foreign Affairs on his journey to visit and work with the Vietnam - Finland International School
On the morning of October 22, 2024, Vietnam - Finland International School (VFIS) had the honor of welcoming Mr. Ville Tavio, Minister of Foreign Trade and Development at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland, for a visit and discussions. Joining him were Mr. Keijo Norvanto, Ambassador of Finland to Vietnam, along with members of the high-ranking delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland and the Embassy of Finland in Vietnam.
During his first visit to VFIS, Mr. Ville Tavio shared his positive impressions of the Finnish standard school model exemplified by VFIS, particularly noting the meticulous attention to facilities and equipment that closely resemble those in Finland. He recognized these as excellent conditions for effectively implementing the Finnish education program in Vietnam, especially at VFIS. Furthermore, Mr. Ville Tavio commended the efforts and dedication of Ton Duc Thang University and acknowledged the challenges faced by the Board of Directors and the teaching staff in their mission to establish and promote Finnish education in Vietnam.
Mr. Ville Tavio emphasized the importance of continuously upholding and promoting the core values of the Finnish education model, contributing to a creative and holistic learning environment for VFIS students. During discussions with the leadership of TDTU, the VFIS Board of Directors, and the school administration, Mr. Ville Tavio shared insights on the Finnish Government’s forthcoming support for VFIS. This includes initiatives to enhance teaching competencies for VFIS educators through government-funded projects and scholarships, expanding cultural exchange programs for students, and creating opportunities for research, study, and employment in Finland for those wishing to pursue higher education in Finland after graduating from VFIS.
On this occasion, Mr. Ville Tavio had the opportunity to meet, encourage, and offer support to VFIS teachers and students, reaffirming his commitment to providing the best possible conditions for both teachers and students to continue excelling not only at VFIS but also in Finland. He shared that Finland places great importance on education and strives to create the best learning environment for students. Educational opportunities are not limited to graduates from Finland; international students, including those from Vietnam, also have ample chances to access Finland's high-quality education system. He expressed his hope that VFIS students in particular, and Vietnamese students in general, will take advantage of these opportunities to develop themselves in the future.
The visit of Mr. Ville Tavio to VFIS concluded successfully, not only demonstrating the deep interest of the Finnish Government, affirming VFIS’s pivotal role as a bridge in fostering cultural and educational exchange between Vietnam and Finland, but also serving as a strong motivation for both teachers and students to continue striving for future achievements. This, in turn, will help further spread Finland’s educational philosophy, not only in Vietnam but also throughout the Southeast Asian region.
