The Year 2019 came to and end with a lot of love and good memories. VFIS would like to take this chance to express the deepest gratitude to our valued parents, students, teachers, staff, partners and friends for the trust, care and love you shared with us last year. SCHOOL VALIDATION

The first Finnish School in South East Asia!
The Finnish National Agency for Education, under the Ministry of Education and Culture of Finland, validated the International Curriculum as well as the management of VFIS. The school officially became “the first Finnish K12 school in South East Asia.”
THE FIRST OPEN DAY

Come By & Say Hi to VFIS!
An important day, VFIS officially opened for the public to come visit and inquire about our education programmes. It also marked the first day of admissions for students to Grades 1 - 5.

Fun, fun, and more fun!
With the theme of Connecting with Nature, nearly 100 students spent seven weeks full of exciting experiences and new discoveries on topics such as animals, plants, climate, water and the environment. This was a great start before the new school year.
FAMILY SPORTS DAY

The Family Sports Day was held to promote family values with the participation of VFIS families as well as people interested in the school. See you at this event in the years to come!

TDTU announced the decision to appoint Ms. Seija Nyholm as the first VFIS Head of School. With a lot of experience in Finnish as well as international education, she is committed to building the best learning environment at VFIS.

The first School Year Opening Ceremony was held solemnly at VFIS to welcome more than 200 students to join the first School Year 2019-2020. Thank you so much for your trust and partnership!
MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL

Eat the cakes, digest the culture!
To teach the students traditional values and culture, the Mid-autumn Festival was held with a lot of fun activities, such as traditional games and making mooncakes. See you in the next season!

Halloween is fun!
Halloween is not scary but fun at VFIS. The students are allowed to wear different cute costumes to school to play and have fun today. They also had decorated the classrooms beautifully with a lot of art works made out of recycled materials.
HAPPY NATIONAL TEACHER’S DAY

To teach the students the respect and gratitude to the teachers, a celebration was held on the National Teacher’s Day at VFIS. A lot of gifts in form of artwork, songs were given to the teachers as gestures of appreciation on this day.

One of the most exciting activities in the National Teacher’s Day was called “A Day as a Teacher.” This is the chance for the Parents to volunteer themselves to prepare and teach a lesson for one period with the topics they preferred. We look forward to your volunteering next year.
WINTER WONDERLAND FESTIVAL

Season of love, season of sharing!
The festival was a great opportunity for the students to socialize and express themselves in different forms of arts such as; handmade work, dancing, singing… Thank you so much for your contribution and see you in the next winter.
VFIS STUDENTS & FIELD TRIPS
We learn by doing!
In the joy of Christmas season, a lot of field trips was held in December.
-Educine: The field trip combined education and cinema.
-Trip to the Park: The trip to let the students apply the knowledge of Probability and Statistics and practice life skills.
-Trip to the Zoo: The trip to teach life skills and build the love for wild animals.
WORKSHOPS & TALK SHOWS 2019
Free for everyone!
As a part of community service, VFIS had held a lot of workshops and talk shows for all of the people who are interested. All of these are free of charge. Topics included: Bilingual Education: Good Practices at Home; Getting Ready for Grade One; Play with Children; Behavior of Primary Students; Secrets of Finnish Education; Food Safety and Nutrition for Students; Positive Discipline: Effective Strategies for Parents at Home
