VFIS students with “The Art of Moving Through COVID”

Earlier this fall VFIS Art students got an invitation from The World Economic Forum to send submissions to a fascinating digital art exhibition of artwork from 22 countries, highlighting the transportation changes people experienced as a result of the pandemic. 

“The Art of Moving Through COVID” exhibition was launched in November in conjunction with the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, United Kingdom. 48 of the selected artwork came from VFIS, 6 with Honorable mentions.

The artwork came from Lê Cẩm, Dương Bảo, Fujii and Nguyen Ha

“The sight of our Earth is chaotic, claustrophobic, competitive, even ugly. Fluorescent and toxic colours are destroying the nature, emitting poisonous fumes to the stratosphere.The mask has a whirlwind of traffic, each fighting for it’s space, trying to survive on the orange roads. Some vehicles lose and they are being pushed off the roads, out of the game, to the space. The northside is more serene: only ambulances, buses and trucks for rescue are allowed. If this leads to the new normal, the future is not promising.”

“Another morning, full day ahead. The pandemic requires medical people to work in long shifts, in some cases living away from their families. Luckily there are talented people, willing to hop on the bus, regardless of fear! Thank you doctors, nurses, ambulance drivers.”

The artwork came from Jung Sang Jun

“I used markers and color pencils to colour it and for the drawing I used pencil and the pen also I described the street of Vietnam during the pandemic: so many places, streets, shops, schools, cafes, malls and parks are closed. Many people have nothing, so they are begging  on the streets. Lots of guards, police and army on the streets to guide us, fine for breaking the rules and scan for permissions.”
