VFIS has 180 school days per academic year. The school year comprises two quarters Autumn term and two quarters Spring term. In the middle of the Autumn and Spring terms, students have two weeks to take part in a collaborative Interdisciplinary Learning Week. In interdisciplinary projects, students link knowledge and skills from various subjects to work on larger meaningful themes.
