Introducing The Acting Head of Vietnam - Finland International School
Dear VFIS Parents, Teachers, and Students,
The School would like to thank you for all the trust and support of parents, teachers, and especially VFIS students’ enthusiasm for learning. All the love and contribution of parents, teachers, and students have made a significant impact on the sustainable development of the school in the past few years. As the new school year 2023-2024 is about to begin, we hope for a bright future ahead with new feats and collective success.
On behalf of The Board of Directors of Vietnam - Finland International School, I am pleased to announce that Ms. Miekk-Oja Suvi Kristiina has officially accepted the position of Acting Head of School at VFIS, starting from this new school year 2023-2024.
Ms. Miekk-Oja Suvi Kristiina is a graduate of the University of Turku - the second-largest university in Finland where she obtained a Master’s degree in Philosophy. Additionally, Ms. Suvi had successfully completed other minors related to different fields, including Teacher Training, Geography, (at the University of Turku), Health Education (at the University of Jyväskylä), and Spanish (at the University of Helsinki).
Ms. Suvi has an extensive experience of nearly twenty years as an educator both as a teacher and educational manager. She has worked in many different educational institutions and held various positions such as: Life science teacher at Challenger Middle School (San Diego, California, USA); Teacher trainer with an active role in both teachers’ and students’ welfare (working welfare, anti-bullying team) at the Teaching Training School of the University of Helsinki (Finland); Head of International projects at Vantaa International school and at Viikki Teacher Training School (Finland); Teacher of European Baccalaureate biology and integrated sciences in English at European School of Helsinki (Finland); Finnish National Matriculation Exams Coordinator at Vantaan lukio.
The year 2022 marked an important milestone in her education as Ms. Suvi chose Vietnam - Finland International School as her next step of her teaching career. With her strong background in science, she hopes to foster excitement for scientific inquiry and brings the progressive philosophy of Finnish education to all students. From the very first day of joining VFIS Community, Ms. Suvi has been actively and enthusiastically involved in various school activities. She is a much loved and highly respected teacher as she has set a good role model in teaching and training.
We firmly believe that with Ms. Suvi’s extensive experience in education management and teaching, a thorough understanding of Finnish education, and especially the inquisitiveness and desire for innovation, VFIS will achieve greater success, becoming an environment that is safe and conducive to learning where students can receive exemplary education. Under her leadership and guidance, together we can help our children excel and become flexible learners that have the Sisu spirit within them.
