Mid-Autumn Festival of Love: Joining Hands to Support Our Compatriots in the Aftermath of Typhoon and Floods by the Students of Vietnam - Finland International School

On the afternoon of September 17, 2024 (August 15th of the lunar calendar), the teachers, parents, and students of Vietnam - Finland International School (VFIS) celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival in an atmosphere filled with love and solidarity. This event not only highlighted the rich values of Vietnamese culture but also exemplified the spirit of sharing and compassion through various volunteer activities organized by VFIS students. These initiatives aimed to mobilize the VFIS community to support compatriots affected by recent typhoon and floods.

In a setting infused with the warmth of the Mid-Autumn Festival, VFIS students set up booths to sell handmade products. These creative displays served as both a means for students to contribute directly to charity and a way to raise funds for those in flood-affected areas. Additionally, students launched a fundraising campaign featuring songs that expressed national solidarity and evoked compassion among parents, teachers, and students alike.

A particularly enthusiastic highlight was the Mid-Autumn lantern auction, which carried emotional stories dedicated to the beloved flood victims. This auction not only served as a charitable initiative but also became a symbol of unity, where everyone came together to contribute to those impacted by natural disasters. Each auctioned item represented a heartfelt act of generosity, showcasing the kindness of the VFIS community and reinforcing the noble values of sharing and mutual assistance.

Through these charitable activities, VFIS students raised a total of 39,250,000 VND, which will be donated to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee to support individuals in flood-affected regions.

The 2024 Mid-Autumn Festival at VFIS created many memorable moments, as the entire community came together to spread love and empathy. The bright hope in the eyes of the children, the strong bonds among VFIS families, and the collective spirit of supporting those in need made the festival more special and meaningful than ever.
