New Year & New Achievements

Saigon Sports Club & Crossfit District 7 organised the Vietnam Summer Throwdown Team Finals 2020 on January 23rd, 2021 at VFIS and SSC. The event gathered the top eight male and female teams in Vietnam (total 32 athletes). There were four qualifying events during December and the top eight male and female pairs made it to the final round. The finals round consisted of six different events: running, weightlifting, gymnastics, rowing, sled pushing and cycling. Scores were calculated from each event to determine the winners of the day. Jere Ronkainen, VFIS teacher, with his partner, Gikwang Lee from South Korea, placed 3rd after the six events. Congratulations, Mr. Jere !!!

The Science and Engineering Fair for secondary students held by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training chose 50 projects to the final round which took place on January 16th, 2021, at Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted. The project of student Le Vinh Dien (10A) was chosen for the final round. Congratulations to Vinh Dien! We hope you will apply your project in VFIS and other schools soon. 

On January 26th, 2021, VFIS students participated in the STEM Innovation Day that was held by the Division of Education and Training in District 7, HCMC. This was an opportunity for students to meet new friends as well as apply skills related to STEM that they have learnt and practised at school. Congratulations on VFIS students’ commendable achievements on this STEM Innovation Day. 

On January 28th, 2021, VFIS held a 3x3 Basketball Tournament, with the participation of six basketball teams from Ho Chi Minh City. This tournament has contributed to the development of school sports, thereby recruiting and adding new players to professional basketball teams in the city. Thank you, all coaches and players for coming to VFIS and sharing our love of basketball.
