Study Music at VFIS
The Music subject at VFIS School is designed to introduce and foster a love for music among our youngest learners. Through a variety of engaging activities, students will explore the fundamental elements of music, develop their musical skills, and gain an appreciation for different musical styles and cultures. The subject aims to provide a well-rounded music education experience, encompassing singing, listening, movement, and basic instrumental exploration.
Develop Basic Music Skills: Students will develop foundational music skills, including singing in tune, keeping a steady beat, and following rhythmic patterns.
Explore Musical Instruments: Students will have opportunities to explore a wide range of basic musical instruments, such as percussion instruments, piano, guitar, bass and ukulele. They will learn how to produce sounds and create simple melodies.
Discover Music Elements: Students will explore the elements of music, such as melody, rhythm, dynamics, tempo, and form. They will learn to identify these elements in various musical pieces and understand how they contribute to the overall musical experience.
Singing and Vocal Development: Students will engage in singing activities to develop their vocal abilities, including proper breathing techniques, vocal range, and expression. They will learn and perform a variety of songs from different genres and cultures.
Music Appreciation: Students will be exposed to a diverse range of musical styles, genres, and cultures. They will listen to and analyze different musical pieces, identifying key characteristics and discussing their emotional impact.
Musical Movement and Expression: Through movement-based activities, students will explore how music can be expressed through dance, creative movement, and body percussion. They will develop coordination, rhythm, and self-expression through these activities.
Collaborative Music-Making: Students will have opportunities to participate in group activities, such as ensemble singing, playing instruments together, and creating musical compositions as a team. They will learn the importance of teamwork, active listening, and respecting others' contributions.
Assessment and Evaluation: Student progress in the Music course will be assessed through a combination of formative and summative assessments, which may include individual and group performances, listening exercises, written reflections, and participation in class activities. Progress reports will be provided to parents or guardians on a regular basis to keep them informed about their child's musical growth and achievements.
After completing the Music subject at VFIS, students will have gained a solid foundation in music, developed their musical skills, and cultivated a lifelong appreciation for the art form. They will have the confidence to express themselves musically and engage with music in various contexts.
