Study Psychology at VFIS
At VFIS, Psychology is offered to Pre-IB students (grade 10 International) as well as in the IB Diploma program. Students undertaking the course develop an understanding of how psychological knowledge is generated, developed and applied. The curriculum covers biological, cognitive and sociocultural analysis and is taught in an integrated way that ensures that students are able to develop an understanding of the immense diversity of influences on human behavior and mental processes.
At VFIS, psychology is taught incorporating the Finnish method of active learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Students are engaged in discussions, group work, and practical projects or experiments related to psychological topics. There is also an emphasis on practical application through internal assessments or field experiments to replicate a case study. The ethical concerns raised by the methodology and application of psychological research, which includes the importance of responsible research and clinical practice, is also a significant component of psychology education at VFIS, in alignment with the IB program.
Overall, the knowledge gained from psychology can be applied to various aspects of life, leading to personal growth and contributing to the well-being of individuals and society as a whole.
